California CRNA group taps new board of directors

The California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology elected a new board of directors during its annual fall meeting held Oct. 26-27 in Newport Beach, Calif.

According to a news release shared with Becker’s, CANA also honored California State Assemblymember Heath Flora for his “invaluable contributions over the last year supporting CRNAs in California.”

Mr. Flora presented Nilu Patel, CRNA, the vice president of the California Board of Registered Nursing and former CANA president with a California State Certificate of Recognition for “Protecting California patients’ access to safe and high-quality anesthesia care by CRNAs,” according to the release. 

The new board of directors includes:

  • Emily Francke, CRNA, president
  • Kristen Roman, CRNA, president-elect 
  • Joshua Carr, PhD, CRNA, treasurer 
  • Diana Heikkila, PhD, CRNA, secretary
  • Thomas Bachtler, DNP, CRNA, trustee
  • Jennie Lee, PhD, CRNA, trustee
  • Audra Kennedy, DNAP, CRNA, trustee 
  • Debra Varela, DNP, CRNA, trustee
  • Greg Crawford, CRNA, three-year director
