Dr. Ades earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Maryland in College Park. He spent his academic career at the University of Vermont in Burlington as an endowed professor of medicine.
He was the founding director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Program at the Burlington-based University of Vermont Medical Center. Along with his colleagues, he also established the Vermont Center for Behavior and Health, also in Burlington.
Dr. Ades made numerous contributions to cardiology, including over 200 publications and receiving multiple research grants from the National Institute of Health. As a physician-scientist, he examined ways of optimizing exercise training in vulnerable populations with cardiovascular disease and was dedicated to disseminating information on cardiac rehabilitation.
