According to a Vail Daily news report, Vail (Colo.) Valley Medical Center kicked off the week with a celebration event in the hospital atrium. Throughout the last year, the hospital has made multiple efforts to increase patient safety, including through a hand washing initiative that led to the installing of hand-washing stations throughout the hospital.
Hospital employees also started using Care Mobile, a wireless device that verifies the correct drug is being administered correctly to the right patient, according to the news report.
In La Crosse, Wis., Gundersen Luthern implemented a new medication dispensing system that electronically stores which medications the hospital pharmacy restocks each day. The system takes the place of carts pharmacy technicians would have to use in order to deliver medications to each patient room, according to a WKBT news report.
