Physician pays $600K+ to settle false claims allegations 

A physician in Tulsa, Okla., agreed to pay $619,994 to settle false claims allegations

From March 2017 through October 2023, Azhar Shakeel, MD, submitted claims to several federally funded healthcare programs despite being out of office and traveling for many of the alleged services rendered, the Justice Department said Aug. 9. 

Dr. Shakeel owns and operates Urgent Care of Muskogee, Urgent Care of Checotah and Muskogee Medical Care.
