California medical office building approved despite opposition

The Los Angeles city council has approved a medical office building proposal from hospital operator CHA Health Systems to build a 96,000-square-foot facility that will be leased by Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, according to a Nov. 2 report from Urbanize Los Angeles.

The medical office building will take up three stories, which will be constructed on top of an existing parking garage. It will create clinic space, a pharmacy, and diagnostic and imaging space.

The project has been approved despite opposition from a member of the La Mirada Neighborhood Association, who says the new building will violate local zoning rules.

A second appeal from the union coalition Creed LA was dropped prior to the hearing, according to the report.

The building is part of a 10-year expansion plan for Hollywood Presbyterian.
