Optum, Uber strike deal: What ASCs need to know 

Optum and Uber have inked a deal that will cover some Medicare Advantage beneficiaries’ purchases in the Uber app in 2024.

Here are three things to know about the partnership:

1. Healthcare plan benefit cards, including health spending accounts and flexible spending cards, will  be available to use as a form of payment on the app to cover things like physician visits, over-the-counter items and healthy food. 

2. The benefits are expected to expand to Medicaid and commercial health plan beneficiaries. 

3. The app will record which goods and services are covered by the benefits card and charge it directly.
