A timeline of Medtronic’s past settlements:
2011: Medtronic paid $23.5 million to settle physician kickback claims.
2015: A Medtronic affiliate, ev3, paid $1.25 million to resolve false claims allegations that it led to the unnecessary admission of patients related to atherectomy procedures.
2018: Medtronic paid $13 million to settle kickback claims that originated from its affiliate, Covidien. Medtronic alleges that the misconduct took place before it acquired the company.
2019: Medtronic paid over $17 million after a Covidien physician offered discounted and free marketing to physicians using its products.
2020: Medtronic paid over $8 million to settle kickbacks allegedly paid to a neurosurgeon.
