In partnership with the Windreich Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Health at Icahn Mount Sinai, researchers will advance innovation in AI-based diagnostic ophthalmology care so that AI can be incorporated into physician education, research and clinical care.
James Tsai, MD, will be the center’s inaugural director, leading with two co-directors Louis Pasquale, MD, and Alon Harris, PhD, according to a July 5 press release.
The center will begin by researching and implementing AI across Mount Sinai’s tele-retina, ophthalmology tele-consult and eye stroke programs.
The center will develop validated AI models that can be used to interpret digital retina images and calculate patient risk of adverse health events.
