On June 20, the New York State Legislature passed a bill aiming to stop employers from entering into noncompete agreements with their employees, according to a June 26 post from JD Supra.

The bill is similar to the proposed Federal Trade Commision rule seeking to ban noncompete agreements nationwide.

If Gov. Kathy Hochul signs the bill into law, any noncompete agreement entered or modified 30 days after the signature will be prohibited.
