AAMI stated that even though it agrees preventive maintenance and services should be performed by qualified staff members, those services should not be restricted to service companies. In-house biomedical departments are often supplied with the same training and education that companies, such as GE/Datex-Ohmeda and Drager, make available to their own field engineers.
In-house biomedical departments are also sufficiently trained to provide education and training to anesthesia staff, thereby creating a teamwork effort for preventive maintenance and repair of anesthesia machines.
