Scammers using South Carolina physician practices to get patient information 

Scammers in South Carolina are using the phone numbers of physicians offices to access patients’ personal information, NBC affiliate WYFF reported March 22.

Callers are claiming to be with Medicare and Medicaid, according to the report. The callers allegedly ask for confidential information relating to medical coverage, with the caller ID showing up as a physician’s number. 

Officials advise anyone who gets this call to immediately hang up, the report said.
