The vote by the Legislative Commission’s Subcommittee to Review Regulations is on a proposal which would increase healthcare facility licensing fees for ASCs — from $3,570 to $9,784 — as well as hospitals and rural clinics.
If the subcommittee does not approve the increase, state officials have indicated the number of regular inspections — which became mandated by law in 2009 — would be reduced significantly due to a lack of available funds to pay inspectors.
