Medical director Laura Baker, MD, a Tampa-based anesthesiologist, said in a Dec. 27 letter to the Florida Department of Health that she had already contacted the sheriff’s office and local DEA office about her concerns.
She reported several unidentified physicians writing prescriptions at the clinic without her permission, as well as two former owners or board members opening the clinic for business without authorization, according to the report.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike McCall told the Florida Times-Union that Department of Health investigators are heading the investigation while the police department assists.
