Beginning Oct. 1, CMS will provide hospitals with additional device reimbursement when a single-use duodenoscope is used for eligible cases of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures in the hospital inpatient setting.

The add-on is applicable to Boston Scientific’s Exalt Model D Single-Use Duodenoscope, a device designed to eliminate infections caused by ineffective reprocessing of reusable duodenoscopes.

The Exalt Model D Single-Use Duodenoscope was granted transitional pass-through payment by CMS in 2020, allowing for incremental device reimbursement for cases performed in the hospital outpatient setting.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
