The study, conducted via survey by the University of Arkansas, revealed that 68 percent of survey respondents are moving toward adoption of global data standards in the next five years, according to a news release from the University of Arkansas. The survey data also revealed that nearly a third of respondents have not started ant preparations for adaptation of such standards.
The survey queried healthcare providers, group purchasing organizations, device manufacturers and wholesaler/distributors. It was conducted by researchers at the University of Arkansas Center for Innovation in Healthcare Logistics, along with the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association and the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management.
The 68 percent of respondents acknowledging they are moving toward adoption is a nearly two-fold increase from a similar survey conducted two years ago, according to the news release.
