The allegations against Dr. Becker stem from MCFU’s investigation into her billing practices. MFCU alleged that Dr. Becker’s billing codes were statistically higher than normal before even reviewing her patients’ medical charts. Although criminal charges were filed against Dr. Becker, a newly appointed MFCU director moved to have the charged dismissed. He later testified in deposition that if he had known of extortion by the MFCU, he would have never joined the unit.
