The action, which President Obama is expected to approve, grants a 2.2 percent update in physician payments. It will be funded by expected savings from a 20 percent reduction in payments for therapy services.
The action gives time for Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) to hammer out a 12-month fee-fix before the end of the year.
