Anesthesiologist Wins Maryland House Seat

Anesthesiologist Andy Harris, MD, has won the Maryland 1st Congressional District, according to news reports.

Republican state Sen. Harris defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil.

 

Dr. Harris received significant financial support from fellow anesthesiologists and was promoted in a 60-second radio ad by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He heads the society’s Maryland chapter and received financial support from PACs for the ASA as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Otlolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery ENT and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
