Specialization of single-specialty ASCs billing Medicare — Ophthalmology is most popular

Single-specialty ASCs represented 61 percent of all ASCs billing Medicare in 2017, according to a report by Global Healthcare Advisors, an investment bank focused on healthcare mergers and acquisitions.

Using information from the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission’s March 2019 report to Congress, GHA broke down the number of single-specialty ASCs billing Medicare in 2017:
