15% discount can lead ASCs to switch devices, manufacturers: 5 insights

Facing constant pressure to lower costs, ASCs are more likely than other healthcare facilities to switch devicemakers, Bain & Co. reports.

Bain asked 350 physician respondents whether they were likely to accept a 15 percent discount even if it meant the following:

1. Similar device from a different manufacturer: 61 percent
2. Fewer administrative services: 60 percent
3. Previous generation device from the same manufacturer: 51 percent
4. Fewer clinical services: 39 percent
5. Devices with fewer product features: 34 percent
