Chicago ASC logs 1st cataract procedure using new implants

Northshore Surgery Center in Chicago logged its first cataract surgery involving Alcon PanOptix trifocal intraocular lens implants.

Ophthalmologist Randy Epstein, MD, performed the procedure. Dr. Epstein is CEO of Chicago Cornea Consultants.

The newly approved IOLs are designed to improve patients’ distance, intermediate and near vision after surgery. Alcon commercially launched the IOLs in the U.S. in late August.
