HealthTrust Purchasing Group — a healthcare performance improvement company with 40,000-plus member locations including ASCs and physician practices — acquired Resource Optimization & Innovation.

Four details:

1. ROI is a group purchasing organization with members including Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy, Orlando (Fla.) Health and Baton Rouge, La.-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System.

2. HealthTrust expects the purchase to strengthen its contract portfolio.

3. As part of the transaction, ROI’s custom procedure tray operation was established as ROI CPS. The new company is majority-owned by HealthTrust, with Mercy and other former ROI owners holding a minority stake.

4. ROI is responsible for Mercy’s supply chain management.
