Wisconsin surgery center closes — 3 insights

Pewaukee, Wis.-based Lake Country Surgery Center closed and voluntarily terminated its Medicare benefits in December 2018.

What you should know:

1. A Froedtert media spokesperson confirmed the closure. The surgery center closed, withdrew from the Medicare program effective and terminated its agreement with HHS Dec. 31, 2018.

2.The hospital next to the surgery center closed in June 2019, according to a BizTimes story. 

3. Froedtert relocated affected employees to other surgery centers in the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin health network.

4. Froedtert owns the building which houses the surgery center and hospital. The health system is evaluating the future plans for it.
