According to the Communitas Awards website, the award “is an international effort to recognize exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals that are unselfishly giving of themselves and their resources, and those that are changing how they do business to benefit their communities.”

TriMedx employees created TriMedx Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating healthcare in developing countries to a self-sustaining level. The Foundation collects, repairs, transports and installs medical equipment in impoverished communities. It provides medical equipment and healthcare to more than 1 million people in developing countries, according to a TriMedx news release.

“TriMedx Foundation was built on the core values of service to the poor, integrity, wisdom, dedication, reverence and creativity,” said Dale Hockel, vice president of clinical engineering services for TriMedx, who also serves on the board of directors for TriMedx Foundation, according to the news release. “Our associates nationwide embrace and embody these values every day.”

To date, TriMedx Foundation has completed 62 mission trips in 20 countries.
