Covenant Surgical Partners acquires Los Angeles eye practice — 3 insights

Nashville, Tenn.-based Covenant Surgical Partners entered into a partnership with Los Angeles-based De La Peña Eye Clinic, acquiring its five clinics and ASC.

1. Covenant acquired De La Peña Eye Clinic because of the combination of its surgery center and clinical practices. Covenant views the pairing as a future growth model.

2. De La Peña Eye Clinic founder William De La Peña, MD, will remain involved with the clinic. De La Peña Eye Clinic has nine ophthalmologists, seven optometrists and more than 100 employees.

3. Covenant now has a portfolio of seven surgery centers and four practices with eight clinical locations.

Covenant CEO Lew Little said: “We are impressed with [De La Peña Eye Clinic’s] comprehensive model, innovative approach to the market and the genuine care with which De La Peña providers practice and serve patients. It is clear that our values align.”
