Maine hospital building outpatient surgery center as part of consolidation effort — 3 insights

Portland, Maine-based Northern Light Mercy Hospital is consolidating most of its services into its Fore River campus, local news affiliate WMTW reports.

1. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services approved the health system’s $75 million consolidation plan.

2. Northern Light will begin a two-year expansion project in 2020 on the Fore River campus.

3. The expansion will include an addition and an outpatient surgical center at the Fore River campus. The addition will house inpatient and emergency services.
