Surgical Management Professionals ASC opens sans hospital partner: 3 details

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Surgical Management Professionals’ Advanced Surgery Center of Central Iowa in West Des Moines is one of the state’s latest ASCs to obtain a certificate of need without a hospital partner.

Three details:

1. Occupying 15,000 square feet, ASCCI has two operating rooms, eight private perianesthesia rooms and a three-bay post-anesthesia care unit.

2. In April, the single-specialty ASC underwent a Medicare deemed-status survey conducted by The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare.

3. SMP expects to open a cardiac ASC in California within the next few months. The company is also working on projects in Minnesota and Michigan.
