Dr. Mohammad Madhoun receives 2019 James F. Hammarsten Physician of Excellence Award

Oklahoma City VA Health Care System bestowed its 2019 James F. Hammarsten Physician of Excellence Award on gastroenterologist Mohammad Madhoun, MD, The Oklahoman reports.

What you should know:

1. The VA recognizes a physician annually for their accomplishments.

2. The VA selected Dr. Madhoun because of his “extraordinary efforts and accomplishments in clinical service, research, education and administration.”

3. Dr. Madhoun is the director of endoscopy at Oklahoma City VA Medical Center and the VA site director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.

4. He is the associate director of gastroenterology/hepatology at Oklahoma City-based University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and received the student-nominated Aesculapian Award for his teaching work in 2017.
