Advocate Health Care takes wrecking ball to hospital for campus expansion — 3 details

Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care began demolition at Hazel Crest, Ill.-based Advocate South Suburban Hospital in late March to make space for a surgical procedure center.

Three details:

1. The 18-month construction project will expand Advocate South Suburban’s presence by 90,000 square feet.

2. Advocate will replace existing operating rooms with nine surgical suites — including two surgical robotic suites — and establish 33 private preparation and recovery bays.

3. Other plans include creating a new patient entry point and lobby, building an 11-bed post anesthesia care unit and developing three interventional procedural rooms.
