2 secrets to successful EMR implementation for ASCs

ASCs have been slower to implement EMRs than their hospital counterparts, but Anesthesia Business Consultants President and CEO Tony Mira predicts change is inevitable.

Two keys to effective EMR implementation:

1. Designate a staff member to work closely with the EMR vendor. This person should help ensure the system is modified to meet the practice’s unique billing and documentation requirements.

2. Set up a way to verify how many records were received. Certain ones aren’t identified for a slew of reasons, such as software updates.
