Four key points:
1. Topeka, Kan.-based Stormont Vail Health became a minority owner in Manhattan (Kan.) Surgical Hospital, a physician-owned facility, for an undisclosed amount.
2. Board Chairman of Manhattan Surgical Hospital Jamie McAtee, MD, said the new ownership structure will allow the hospital to strengthen services and expand to new services.
3. After the deal is finalized, within the next 90 days, the partners aim to develop new medical office space and bring on new providers.
4. Stormont previously invested in Cotton O’Neill Manhattan (Kan.), a medical group, in 2012. The surgical hospital will be its most recent investment in Manhattan.
