Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Adam Cochran joins Athens Orthopedic Clinic — 5 details

Hand and upper extremity specialist Adam Cochran, MD joined Athens (Ga.) Orthopedic Clinic in September 2018, GwinnettCitizen.com reports.

What you should know:

1. Dr. Cochran was an AOC patient as a child, but he didn’t realize he wanted to be a surgeon until he was studying Poultry Science at the University of Georgia in Athens.

“[W]e actually performed surgery on birds in that major, and once I did a surgery on a bird, I thought, ‘Wow! I really want to be a surgeon,'” Dr. Cochran told GwinnettCitizen.com.

2. Dr. Cochran then attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed fellowship training at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in July 2018.

3. He primarily practices at AOC’s Snellville (Ga.) Clinic, but also treats patients at AOC’s Dacula, Ga.-based clinic and its surgery center in Loganville, Ga.

4. Dr. Cochran treats injuries of both the upper and lower extremities, with a subspecialty in nerve repairs.

5. At Loganville Surgery Center, Dr. Cochran performs arthroplasty surgeries, carpal tunnel releases, fracture work and other upper extremity procedures. He aims to take on more nerve-repair cases.
