Researchers treated 651 patients with either a multidisciplinary care team approach (326) or a traditional care team approach (325). Researchers measured survival rates, follow-up appointment compliance and 14-day readmission rates.
Here’s what they found:
1. Multidisciplinary care teams increased follow-up appointment compliance rates during the first week, the first month and three months after the procedure.
2. The MCT model reduced 14-day readmission rates.
3. Survival rates for MCT patients were also superior to traditional care patients.
Researchers concluded, “The adoption of the MCT model to treat CRC effectively enhanced clinical treatment adherence, increased survival rates and reduced the 14-day readmission rate.”
