5 steps ASCs can follow to improve ASC billing performance

1. Data collection. Collect data on an ASC’s payer and service mix to identify areas for improvement.

2. Data analytics. Financial performance data can help set benchmarks on billing time, which helps move improvement efforts along.

3. Benchmarking. Benchmarking initiatives can help ASCs set goals moving forward.

4. Train and educate. With goals set, training staff on how to reduce days to bill can help ASCs meet their benchmarking goals.

5. Monitor ongoing results. Setting time aside to monitor progress and performance can help ASCs determine where they’re falling short and where they’re doing well.
