Here are the key details to know:

1. HHS plans to release a proposal requestions healthcare organzations share a percentage of money paid by healthcare organizations resulting from data breached with the individuals affected.

2. HHS’ list of proposed changes also includes a request for information on whether HIPAA regulations stall progress toward value-based care payment programs and increased care coordination.

3. HHS is planning on releasing a notice of proposed rulemaking in March 2019 covering the alignment of 42 CFR Part 2 with HIPAA, which would allow providers to share information about patients for the purpose of treatment, payment and operations.
