GI leader to know: Dr. Scott Strong of Northwestern Medicine

Scott Strong, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine.

Dr. Strong is the surgical director of Northwestern Medicine’s Digestive Health Center .

He is also the James R. Hines, MD, Professor of Surgery and professor in surgery-gastrointestinal and endocrine at the Evanston, Ill.-based Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Strong’s practice includes operative treatment of disorders affecting the small bowel and colon, as well as re-operative colorectal surgery for recurrent disease and complications.

He received his medical degree from the Iowa City-based University of Iowa, completed his internship and residency at East Lansing-based Michigan State University in general surgery and an additional residency at the Cleveland Clinic in colorectal surgery.
