She shared the following supply chain tip with Becker’s ASC Review:
“What is generally most efficient is having a dedicated supply chain employee managing items and orders and the many other activities that need to be performed: internal distribution of items to suites, putaway of incoming orders, supply replenishment, expiration date management, STAT and emergency supply situations – the list goes on,” she said. “When done well, supplies management is nearly invisible. Not done well, supplies management can lead to extra costs and even cancelled patient cases”
