5 things to know about DePuy Synthes’ rotator cuff tissue repair device

DePuy Synthes launched the Dynacord Suture to repair soft tissue like the rotator cuff in the shoulder and address common complications faced in arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery.

 Here’s what you need to know:

1. The Dynacord Suture responds to changes in repair tension occurring over time, promoting stability in the healing process.

2. It’s composed of two outer sheaths of braided fibers and a core made of silicone and salt. This internal salt-filled core helps Dynacord Suture maintain a stable repair environment.

3. When Dynacord Suture is placed in the body, the salt particles within the silicone core dissolve, leaving behind a porous structure within the silicone core.

4. The devices expands outward if the repair loses tension, maintaining a stable repair environment during the healing process.

5. Full launch of the device is expected in the third quarter of 2018.
