Researchers examined 1,188 colonoscopies performed at three centers. Researchers separated patients into four procedure groups. Colonoscopists performed colonoscopies alone, with an Endocuff, with an EndoRing or with a full-spectrum endoscopy system. All colonoscopists were high-level detectors.
Here’s what the researchers found:
1. The Endocuff had the highest adenomas per colonoscopy rate, followed by the EndoRing and then standard colonoscopy.
2. Full spectrum endoscopy system had the worst APC detection rate.
3. The Endocuff had the shortest cecal insertion time.
Researchers concluded, “For high-level detectors at colonoscopy, forward-viewing HD instruments dominate the FUSE system, indicating that for these examiners image resolution trumps angle of view. Further, Endocuff is a dominant strategy over EndoRings and no mucosal exposure device on a forward-viewing HD colonoscope.”
