‘Ahoy, Matey!’ — TCMH Surgery Center raises $3.6K through boat race

Houston, Mo.-based Texas County Memorial Hospital Surgery Center raised $3,661 through its second annual Pirates of the Piney Cardboard Regatta, the West Plains Daily Quill reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The regatta featured a cardboard boat race and a rubber duck race, accompanied by food and music.

2. Nine racers participated, and built cardboard boats before the event.

3. The event was created by employees as an alternate way to raise funds for the hospital and its affiliates.
