WVU Medicine’s Fairmont outpatient clinic achieves ultrasound accreditation – 4 highlights

The Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine accredited the ultrasound practices at Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine’s outpatient clinic.

Here are four highlights.

1. The Fairmont, W.Va.-based outpatient clinic was granted ultrasound accreditation for three years.

2. The practice was evaluated on multiple criteria, including physician and sonographer training and qualifications; ultrasound equipment maintenance; documentation; and storage and record-keeping practices.

3. The practice’s gynecological, obstetric-first trimester, obstetric-second trimester and obstetric-third trimester ultrasound programs are now AIUM-accredited.

4. AIUM is a medical association comprised of more than 9,900 physicians, sonographers and scientists focused on safe, effective ultrasound use.
