Here are three things to know.
1. Only about 17 percent of current OB-GYN residents are male. Nationwide, female gynecologists are expected to make up two-thirds of the OB-GYN workforce by 2025.
2. While women are disproportionately represented in obstetrics and gynecology, fewer than a third of physicians overall are female. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, men dominate 37 of 42 medical specialties.
3. Male OB-GYNs are more likely to subspecialize than their female counterparts.
