Dr. Robert Loeffler to deliver commencement speech at alma mater — 5 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon Robert Loeffler, MD, is returning to Allentown, Pa.-based Muhlenberg College, his undergraduate alma mater, to deliver a commencement speech to the graduating class and to receive an honorary doctorate.

Here are five things to know about him.

1. Dr. Loeffler graduated Muhlenberg College in 1970.

2. He then earned his medical degree at Philadelphia-based Temple University, before completing his residency at Boulder-based The University of Colorado Medical Center.

3. Dr. Loeffler is an orthopedic surgeon with Doctors Without Borders. He specializes in sports medicine and previously served as the head team physician for the University of Denver.

4. He taught at Boulder-based University of Colorado for 20 years, where he also served as director of sports medicine.

5. Dr. Loeffler is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
