Providence Health completes purchase of former Walla Walla General Hospital site

Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services purchased four vacant buildings which used to be Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Providence first plans to relocate its urgent care facility to the space. That project could start in late summer or early fall.

2. Providence also plans to convert one of the buildings into an outpatient facility with primary and specialty care clinics.

3. The health system applied to the Washington Department of Health for a certificate of need to establish a new outpatient surgery center at the site..

4. The system hopes the center will reduce outpatient wait times for surgery.
