Here’s what you should know.
1. Mr. Kelly will urge fellow players during the PGA Tour Champions tour to talk to their healthcare provider about getting screened for colon cancer.
2. To play on the Champions tour, you have to be 50 years old, which is the same age individuals should get screened for colon cancer.
3. Cologuard Classic Defending Champion Tom Lehman accepted the challenge. Mr. Lehman survived colon cancer. He said, “A lot of people don’t know this, but I’m a colon cancer survivor. This is very personal for me because I know first-hand the importance about talking with your doctors and nurses about your health — even if the topic is a little uncomfortable. You risk missing a lot of great rounds of golf if you don’t.”
4. Mr. Kelly became involved in promoting colon cancer awareness after speaking with Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy. Colon cancer touched both of their lives.
5. Cologuard has a booth at the Cologuard Classic where visitors can learn more about the test. The booth also has a custom miniature golf course. For every hole-in-one made, Exact Sciences will donate a $1 to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.
