1. We are participating in the AAAHC GI benchmarking study over a 12-month period. We internally measure the effectiveness of our bowel preps, patient satisfaction, level of analgesia, discharge instructions and hospital transfers and admissions. By participating in this clinical benchmark study specific to endoscopy, we can monitor our practice and outcomes relative to other centers nationally, make adjustments to our practice or congratulate ourselves on a job well done.
2. All of our RNs administering IV sedation under the direction of the physician are ACLS certified and have been passed yearly competencies in IV sedation.
3. We have invited doctor’s office staff to observe patient experience from admission to discharge. This helps to improve their knowledge, understand the importance of accurate communication to patients and feel more confident in what they are telling patients.
