Kaleida Health files CON to add new procedure at Southtowns Surgery Center: 4 quick notes

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health filed a certificate of need to add lithotripsy, a non-invasive technique to treat stones in the kidney and ureter, at Orchard Park, N.Y.-based Southtowns Surgery Center.

Here are four quick notes:

1. Kaleida Health filed the CON nearly two weeks ago.

2. Kaleida Health owns 51 percent of Southtowns Surgery Center. Sixteen physicians own the remaining 49 percent.

3. Since opening its doors nearly 14 months ago, Southtowns Surgery Center has offered orthopedics, general surgery, plastic surgery and podiatry services.

4. Mary Rose Graham, BSN, MSN, director of Southtowns Surgery Center, said, “For the lithotripsy, our plan is to utilize a company that brings the equipment in and we are hoping this will help patients have closer access to lithotripsy so they don’t have to worry about going into the city.”
