Here are five things to know:
1. The new facility is located across the street from where the former St. Vincent Hospital stood. St. Vincent Hospital closed in 2010, and at the time Northwell promised to restore healthcare services for the West Village and other Lower Manhattan neighborhoods.
“Our ongoing expansion of medical care in Greenwich Village and other neighboring communities reaffirms our commitment to filling the healthcare void in Lower Manhattan and providing easy access to a range of different services,” said Northwell President and CEO Michael Dowling.
2. The new 30,000-square-foot ASC opened recently, including six operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The facility, which spans an entire floor of the pavilion, also supports eight prep areas and 23 recovery beds.
3. In total, the medical pavilion is 160,000 square feet and includes a conference center that can accommodate up to 74 people and host community events. Northwell Health Physician Partners Orthopaedic Institute also calls the building home.
4. Previously, Norwell opened a freestanding, 24-hour emergency center and imaging center at the pavilion location. Northwell Health Physician Partners also opened Lower Manhattan locations for physicians including cardiology, internal medicine and dermatology, as well as a vein surgery center.
5. Northwell Health now has more than 50 outpatient locations throughout Manhattan.
