Anesthesiologist, former ASC board member Sen. Tim Melson seeks re-election: 4 key points

Alabama Sen. Tim Melson, MD, R-Florence, is seeking re-election to the District 1 Alabama Senate, according to Times Daily.

Here are four key points:

1. When he ran for the state Senate three years ago, Sen. Melson said he strived to bring more jobs and economic development to the region. He is seeking re-election to finish the work he started to meet this goal.

2. An anesthesiologist by training, Sen. Melson was a board of directors member of Florence (Ala.) Surgery Center from 1995 to 2008.

3. He also was chief of anesthesia at Sheffield, Ala.-based Helen Keller Hospital from 1993 to 2008.

4. Sen. Melson is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and  Medical Association of Alabama.
