Mr. Sapienza and the alliance want Congress to work on a bipartisan effort to stabilize the ACA before seeking a long-term solution.
Mr. Sapienza said, “The administration’s efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act with lower premium plans and less benefits, while also ending CSR payments will destabilize the healthcare market and cause increases in premiums to those that cannot afford insurance on their own.”
He said the resulting premium increases were an “unacceptable gamble” with the health of U.S. citizens.
Mr. Sapienza also said people with colorectal cancer need access to affordable care, and that insurance companies shouldn’t discriminate against people with preexisting conditions.
On Oct. 13, President Trump signed an executive order ending payer cost-sharing subsidies.
